Pop the Question With the Right Engagement Jewelry

Traditionally engagement jewelry is thought of in terms of a diamond solitaire gold band ring. With so many options available in terms of stones and metals, the choices are practically limitless. An engagement ring is meant to show that one is unavailable, promised to their beloved in the near future. It is also worn after marriage coupled with the wedding band.

Budget is a primary factor when choosing an engagement band. A large diamond with many defects may cost the same as a smaller diamond that is near flawless. Think about the person for whom the ring is for and what their choice would be.

With the ring probably being worn daily, the stone should be something a fiance should enjoy looking at always. Aside from the regular diamond solitaire, various stones can surround the solitaire. Ring bands can be thin, wide and jeweled encrusted. Engagement rings can be made from gold, but platinum and silver are popular options as well. Carat size is based on weight, so a 2-carat diamond may look quite different from a 2-carat emerald.

The shape of jewelry is also subjective. The person looking for an emerald cut may not be happy if a marquise cut stone is the ring box. Just because it catches the eye of one, does not mean it is fit for everyone.

The setting for a ring may not seem important until the jeweler asks. There are classic solitaire settings, but cathedral, bezel and contour settings are also available. Take a close look, because the differences are minor and a good jeweler should be able to explain them.

Rings can often be custom made, and it costs a bit more. Allowing one to pick the band, stone, and setting can prevent unhappiness later. Personalized engravings also add an intimate touch. Choosing engagement jewelry is a proper start to an exciting part of the future.
